A few months ago, I posted that I was moving to Corpus Christi, TX. The reason is that I live a very short distance from my late sister’s house where she lived and died. To say that it bothers me would be an understatement. I’ve since decided not to move to Texas for several reasons:
- Racism
- Hurricanes and
- A huge bridge
During my trip, I encountered several racist incidents all from men of the same ethnic group who were neither white nor Hispanic. This coupled with an unpleasant hotel experience did not help matters. From dealing with a leaky air conditioning unit to waking up to a bug in the kitchenette while staying in a top-rated hotel.
I did my due diligence about hurricane activity (prior to hurricane beryl) but found it disconcerting that the new homes (all small) came with storm shutters. And while this is a good thing, I’ll confess that the thought made me anxious.
Finally, my realtor and I did find a pre-existing home that I loved in a great area but required me to drive across a huge bridge to get to. This was a new experience since bridges are not a thing in Vegas. My decision was made, LOL!
I will say that the experience has not deterred me from needing to leave Las Vegas. I am determined to give myself time to prayerfully continue looking.
