It’s been a long time since I’ve selected a word of the year for myself.  It was several weeks into the year before I’d even considered it.  The Holy Spirit gave me the word ACHIEVE as I created my vision board for this year.  The word achieve reminds me of the goals I’ve set and the commitment I have to accomplish each.  Not just hope or plan but to achieve.  I fully intend to look back on 2025 and see each of my goals fulfilled and not just wishful thinking.

Biblical Foundation

The scriptures are replete with bible verses on achieving goals.

  • 2 Chronicles 15:7 says, “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”
  • Psalms 20:4 reads, “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”
  • Joshua 1:8 reads, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
  • Psalm 37:4-5 says, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.”

And that’s just the Old Testament!

  • Matthew 17:20b reads, “…Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
  • Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
  • Hebrews 10:35-36 says, “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.”

And there are plenty more than that to choose from!  Have you found a verse that resonates with you and aligns with your 2025 goals?

Faith in Action

This year, I am doing more than I ever have to achieve my goals.  For example, each morning, I spend time reading from a book that I’m currently reading.  This contributes to my overall reading goal for the year and helps me to become reacquainted with my love of reading.  I also listen to audio teachings that will give me the hope and direction I need.  The ongoing education I receive from these men and women is invaluable.  Finally, I’m walking as a form of exercise alot more.  Being in nature relaxes me and often provides clarity with whatever I’m working on.  Not to mention, it’s a great stress reliever.
