Japan releasing radioactive wastewater into the Pacific Ocean

This summer, Fukushima, Japan will begin releasing radioactive wastewater into the Pacific Ocean.  The result of a nuclear plant incident in 2011 stemming from a tsunami and earthquake this plant has been collecting and testing water for years.

Now, all of the nuclear waste is scheduled to be released into the ocean. Potentially contaminating seafood, and seaweed, for God knows how long.  Not only does this impact the seafood industry in Asia but the diet of millions of people many of whom are planning to eliminate it completely.

Why am I so bothered by this? The ocean and all its beauty is my favorite place to be. Standing on the shores overlooking the expanse gives me peace as I’m sure it does for many of you. If Japan is allowed to release, contaminated wastewater into the ocean other countries may soon follow. Imagine not being able to take your children or grandchildren to see the ocean.

Who hasn’t dreamed of buying a home along the shore, and living at the beach? Taking daily walks and living in such a serene environment. The beauty alone could be destroyed because of this one act, and I can assure you it is just the beginning.

We as Christians can pray against this huge atrocity. Pray and ask God to:

  • Frustrate their plans.
  • Provide an alternate solution.
  • Raise up Christians to pray for the environmental concerns of Europe, Asia, North America, and every other country.
